Q1. Is this like installing a mini cell tower in my restaurant? A: No. A Helium Mobile Hotspot is not a cell tower. It doesn’t broadcast licensed cellular signals. Think of it like a small Wi-Fi device that helps carry mobile data. Phones nearby can offload some of their traffic through your hotspot, and you earn rewards for hosting it.
Q2. Do I have to pay for the equipment or installation?
A: No. We cover the cost of the hotspot, installation, and maintenance. You only provide basic internet access and power.
Q3. Will this slow down my restaurant’s internet?
A: No. The hotspot uses very little bandwidth compared to normal internet activity. We also monitor usage to make sure your internet performance is not impacted.
Q4. How much money can my restaurant earn?
A: It depends on the amount of cellular use by your patrons. We have restaurant locations hosting a hotspot that earn $175 to $225 per month. Earnings are shared monthly, paid via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or crypto.
Q5. Is it safe for my customers and my business?
A: Yes. The device is secure, certified, and uses encrypted connections. It does not store customer data or give anyone access to your private network.
Q6. How much space does the hotspot take up?
A: Very little. It’s about the size of a Wi-Fi router and sits quietly indoors — usually on a shelf, counter, or back office.
Q7. What happens if the device breaks or stops working?
A: We handle all maintenance. If there’s ever an issue, we’ll repair or replace the hotspot at no cost to you.
Q8. Do I need to report this income to the IRS?
A: We encourage everyone to report their income appropriately. For transactions over $600, our company will typically send you a Form 1099-NEC, Nonemployee Compensation, at the end of the year. This is the form that businesses use to report payments of $600 or more made to independent contractors, freelancers, and other service providers who are not employees.
